There are several forms of modifications which we beg to lay before you.
1. That the letting of the quarry farm may be split up into two or more sections as was done in former years.
2. That a particular section of the quarries be leased to us either by tender or private arrangement.
3. That the lease or arrangement in our particular case be for a period of five years and not annually.
The particular quarries over which we ask you to grant us these terms are known as the Ma-tau-kok quarries, which are quite a separate group situated on the east side of Kowloon.
It will be apparent that before spending a large sum in opening out a group of quarries with modern plant, railways &c., some fixity of tenure and reasonable security should be assured.
Trusting that this application may meet with the favourable consideration of His Excellency the Governor,
